Regulations

  • The vehicle must be a right-hand drive
  • The vehicle must be less than 8 years old from the year of first registration
  • The vehicle will be subject to roadworthiness inspection by a KEBS appointed inspection officer in the country of export.

Importation Supporting Documents

  • Original Commercial Invoice
  • Original Logbook from Country of importation, that has been cancelled from the Country of origin, required by NTSA to provide you an Original Log Book
  • Pre-Shipment inspection certificate (certificate of road worthiness)
  • Copy of PIN certificate or certificate of Incorporation

Glossary of Terms

Spark-Ignition

An internal combustion engine where the fuel-air mixture is ignited by a spark plug. Commonly found in petrol/gasoline engines.

Compression-Ignition

An internal combustion engine where the heat of compression ignites the fuel-air mixture. Commonly found in diesel engines.

cc (Cubic Centimeters)

A unit of measurement for engine capacity that indicates the size of an engine.

NTSA

National Transport and Safety Authority - The regulatory authority for road transport and safety.

KEBS

Kenya Bureau of Standards - The national standards body responsible for quality assurance of products including imported vehicles.
